## What is Hash Generator?

Hash Generator is a free online tool that creates cryptographic hash digests of your text using MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, and SHA-512 algorithms. It also supports HMAC (Hash-based Message Authentication Code) for SHA-256 and SHA-512. All processing happens in your browser using the native Web Crypto API.

## How to use

  1. Enter or paste your text in the input panel
  2. Select a hash algorithm (MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-512)
  3. Choose output format (Hex or Base64)
  4. Enable HMAC mode and enter a secret key if needed
  5. The hash is computed automatically in real-time

Is my data safe?

Yes. All processing happens entirely in your browser using the Web Crypto API. No data is sent to any server.

Which algorithm should I use?

SHA-256 is recommended for most use cases. MD5 and SHA-1 are considered insecure for cryptographic purposes but are still useful for checksums and non-security applications.

What is HMAC?

HMAC (Hash-based Message Authentication Code) combines a secret key with the message to produce an authenticated hash. It's used for verifying both data integrity and authenticity.
